Make your own embellishments

Back from the Scrappin Patch retreat, it was great to catch up with everyone, and once again it was a fabulous weekend away.  Didn't actually get that much scrapping done, managed to finish my SMASH Album (Trina's Class) and then did two Exploding Boxes (Megan's class).  A great weekend away though.....

This fortnight's challenge over at Challenge Me Happy is to create your own embellishments, something I have been doing alot of lately.... so it suited me perfectly.

I have used the My Minds Eye Bright Side range of papers for this layout, absolutely love the Orange, Teal and white together - they complement each other so well.  I bought the whole kit as it was alot better value for money, and of course everything matches....

For my handmade embellishments, I made my own banner and looped it through with some black / white twine and in-between to give a little dimension - added some random buttons.

My second handmade embellishment, I have used some Packaging from Pink Paislee London Market Jumbo Numbers - oooh la la they are gorgeous - anyway I cut around the back of the packaging and popped it up with some foam tape, and popped a handmade banner underneath it....

Here are a couple of other layouts using the same range of papers, and I still have 3 full sheets of PP left.....what a bargin for $21.00 for the kit over at Scrappin Patch.  You get  9 patterned papers - one of each design, and one 12 x 12" sheet of diecuts.

Here is a little close up - including some WASHI tape on this one layout,

and this one includes a October Afternoon Tin Pin.... love those toooo

Absolutely loving this range, I bought the blue / red one as well, sooo still have lots of scrapping to get done.

10 years ago, Emma was six months old and I had to return to work.  I was soo upset because I would have loved to be able to stay at home with her, and be a stay at home mum.  I remember the first time we took her to Daycare, I dropped her off, she cried her eyes out and I came home and cried my eyes out.  I called the Daycare but she was doing just fine, my heart was sooo sore and I felt soo bad, but we trying to save to buy our first house so I had to go back to work.

This fortnight's challenge over at Challenge me Happy is "10 years ago", so this layout is pretty special because I want Emma to know that I really didn't want to go back to work, but had to.  I was very lucky to be able to work school hours, which still gave me time with the girls in the afternoon, especially for Abigail who didn't have to go to Aftercare anymore either, so in the long run it was all good.

I still cannot believe Emma is 10 this year, and Abigail will be 17 (WOW) I feel sooo old now, I have to say I am extremely fortunate to have such wonderful girls whom I love dearly.

Here is a little close up of the journalling

Scrappin Patch - Retreat

Well what can I say - but it's was FANTASTIC, the very talented Steph Devlin was there as our tutor, what amaising classes we had.  I wish I could share the layouts I have done, but I gave them to Adrienne to pop in the shop before taking a photograph

Anyway here are a couple of snap shots of the retreat (thanks to Steph for the photo's) as I forgot my camera...LOL

Here is a picture of everyone displaying their gorgeous Bonjour layouts

and here is Steph showing us how to do the gorgeous little flowers we made.....

 Andrea; Margaret, Heidi
and of course the talented STEPH.

The classes were jam packed with lots of product, lots of gorgeous Imaginarium chipboard, Webster's product, Pink Paislee, Kaiserkraft and just lots and lots of gorgeous stuff.

Glentui Lodge was just perfect for a retreat,  the accommodation was comfortable, the hall where we were scrapping was huge, and Margaret, Andrea and myself had round tables, one each so we had enough space to put all our gear.  At dusk they light a fire which kept us nice and warm, and the food was so scrumptious.  Adrienne has already pre-booked for early next year, and I promise you - you definately don't want to miss out.
